---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Raygun Youth has been bringing some of the biggest names in hip hop & DnB to Southampton for nearly 10 years now. We’re back for another run of shows kicking things off with this massive main room double headline show and a second room bringing a mix of hip hop, dnb, dub step and some open mic action for the heads.

ALIX PEREZ 1984 Album Tour

www.myspace.com/alixperez

North London based DJ/producer Alix Perez is one of the strongest young producers in the Drum and Bass scene and undoubtedly one of its most prolific up and coming DJs. Already with a number of releases on established labels such as Shogun Audio, Liquid V, Bassbin, Creative Source, Horizons, Progress, Brigand and Fokuz, there aren't many drum and bass DJs on the circuit without a Perez tune in their bag.

Originally from Belgium, Drum and Bass comes naturally to 22-year-old Alix, who has immersed himself in music from an early age. Alix started to DJ at the age of 14 and progressed into production at 17, collaborating with other hotly tipped artists such as Jenna G, Redeyes, Sabre, MC Fats, Spectrasoul and Specific.

With regular appearances at Fabio's legendary "Swerve" night and Bar Rumba's well-respected "Movement" weekly, Alix is also receiving bookings worldwide from Paris to Toronto. With his smooth yet sophisticated selection, drawing for all the latest dubs, he does not fail as a DJ. Alix also has numerous tracks play-listed on BBC 1Xtra and receives heavy support from respected players within the scene: from Bukem to Bailey, he has been repped as "the one to watch" and "representing the future of Drum and Bass."

Alix has recently been featured on the front cover of ATM Magazine as one of the "leaders of the nu-skool" and has had a variety of press across worldwide dance magazines; he has also been nominated for two awards as Breakthrough DJ and Breakthrough Producer of the year at the BBC 1Xtra Bass Awards. It goes without saying that his strong exposure and reputation for putting the soul back into drum and bass is well-earned.

Hackney based Professor Green was just 18 when he started rapping. He shot to fame on the international battle scene. In his career as a battle MC he won over 100 battles, and claimed his status as the worlds 2nd best MC in the Power Summit 50k battle in the Bahamas, losing out to favourite Jin in the final after beating many other of America, and the Worlds, top MCs. He broke many records as a battler, including becoming the first rapper to win The Jump Off 7 weeks in a row, completing the feat twice. He is still the only person in the world to have done this.

In 2007 Professor Green spent 13 months hosting part of a new radio show on Radio 1, called "In New DJ's We Trust". He is one of a handful of rappers to make an effortless transition from the battle arena to the booth, with a string of solid releases and tours already under his belt. He has toured with The Streets and Gym Class Heroes and was signed to Mike Skinner’s label The Beats alongside The Mitchell Brothers and Example before Warner Records unfortunately pulled the plug on sub labels. In 2006 Green released The Lecture # 1 which included such bangers as Stereotypical Man, Before I Die and Upper Clapton Dance. Solidifying his stance as one of the UKs sharpest lyricists Green released The Green EP in 2008 which includes his breathtaking remix of Adele’s Home Town Glory. Surviving a horrific stabbing with a broken bottle Green is back with new material and an album on the way.

Holding down the hip hop scene for Ipswich, Raygun is proud to bring Rapsploitation Sessions head Honchos to The Soul Cellar to warm things up for the main acts. Truth like Professor Green carved his name in the battle scene when he competed in Jump Off’s 2007 World Rap Championships, holding his own with some of the biggest bars of the whole tournament. If running the show in Ipswich wasn’t enough he has found time to put out his debut EP Procrastinat(k)ing which is available for free download from his myspace.
